IELTS General Training Writing Task 1

Writing a Letter

Dear Mr. Ferguson,

In response to the company’s recent implementation of a work-from-home scheme, I would like to request that you consider me for this scheme. My particular position, providing customer service support, is an ideal fit for such a program.

Based on my experience in this position, I can see various benefits for myself and the company. For example, the time saved and better use of office space if I work from home rather than in the office. I spend most of my time handling customers and their technical problems. A task that does not involve contact with other members of staff. With the correct equipment installed at home, I could easily carry out this function effectively. It might even be possible to extend the hours of coverage offered to customers since I would not have to waste time commuting. Extended coverage would be an obvious benefit to the company and its customers.

I would be willing to discuss working more flexible hours if based at home, and subject to discussing the details, possibly even a greater quantity of hours per month than presently if you approve me for the work-from-home scheme.

I look forward to discussing the matter with you in greater detail.

Yours sincerely,
Rob Johnson
Customer Support Technician
