Here are some handicraft IELTS Speaking Part 1 questions about handmade things from the IELTS speaking test.

Do you like making things by hand?

    Answer

I like making homemade items because it is a good outlet for creative expression. I enjoy designing my own patterns and recreating them in needlework or fabric arts. I release control over how the material will behave and instead focus on the innate beauty of line, color, pattern, texture, and shape that each piece set before my hands presents me with.

It's an incredible feeling to complete a complicated project knowing that it will be loved by somebody else besides myself. It's also satisfying when somebody compliments my work if they know what I have done with intricacy takes a lot of time!

Did you ever make anything by hand when you were a child?

    Answer

I used to love making play-dough. It was satisfying knowing that I made it out of something as simple as flour and salt. As you kneaded the dough, it would make a squishy sound that my little fingers loved to feel as they played and discovered new textures and strengths in their hands. Not only did this help develop my dexterity, but it also helped me to be patient as I went through the many tedious steps of shaping this dough and waiting for the final result.

Did you ever make a toy when you were a child?

    Answer

I made lots of things when I was a child. To name just a few, I made Legos, DIY Comics, and clay figurines. But by far my favorite creations to make were video games. No matter how simple or complex the game was, it always allowed me to have fun and learn new skills at the same time - but most importantly, it gave me an outlet for my creativity while still being able to spend time with friends and family as we all worked together on our own little projects.

Do children in your country enjoy making things by hand?

    Answer

That's is a great question. In my country, children enjoy making things by hand because they like to express themselves and the whole process can lead to something very own. My favorite handmade item is a hand-carved dragon ring I got from my father for my ninth birthday. It makes me feel special because it is such a unique piece of jewelry that will mean so much more as I grow up.

Many children make Christmas decorations, arts, drawings, and paintings with their hands too! Recently, my nephew has been working on a drawing just for fun! It's called 'moments', and it has flowers in various shapes with different colors in front of them. It might not be any good, but it's still his own creation!

Was making things by hand common in your country in the past? (Why?)

    Answer

Yes, in my country it has been the norm for many centuries. In the past, most people had to tailor their own clothes and cook their own food from scratch because there was no such thing as ready-made consumer goods like we have today. Manufactured goods require much less labor, and manufacturing plants can do a lot more in a much shorter amount of time than individual family members at home. After all this time, we have forgotten how to sew or bake and only learned how to work on weekends as an escape from daily life.

Do you think it's good for children to make things by hand? (Why?)

    Answer

Yes! Children are not machines, and they should never be treated as such. While we have to make sure children get their education so that they can reach their full potential in society, the value of repetitive work with hands is being devalued. Some children may like the feeling of making something by hand, but others may find it boring or uninteresting.

It's tough for us to know what each child prefers because individuals vary in their experience with repetition; whether young prodigies or older people who can't move their fingers because of cerebral palsy, everyone has a different response to repetition (or lack thereof).

In your country, do children have classes where they learn to make a handmade item?

    Answer

Arts and crafts are taught in schools as an important part of early education development. Children connect with the world and communicate their thoughts through art.

Craft-based projects encourage self-expression and hands-on learning while improving motor skills, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

Children must have access to quality instruction in these areas as they grow up because they can help students develop essential life skills. Some of these skills include dealing with frustration when a project doesn't turn out exactly the way it was hoped, being patience while taking steps carefully until he or she makes something just right, and handling new materials responsibility by knowing when and how to use them well.

Is there anything that you would like to learn to make by hand?

    Answer

Yes. There are many things that I would like to be able to make for myself by hand. For example, a skirt or some sleeves for a dress. Making garments by hand is an art and can teach one patience and discipline. These can, in turn, aid in their lives outside of the workshop.

The skills acquired from working with fabric on the frame will also apply to other projects outside of garment making, such as furniture upholstery or quilt making.

Lastly, knowing how clothing construction works inside and out allows you to more easily and appropriately alter garments that don't fit well. You don't need additional tailoring because you can consider all seams and stitching lines when adjusting rather than trying blindly to take in seams.

Why do some people prefer to buy handmade things rather than machine-made things?

    Answer

The person who crafted the item put in all their care and attention when creating it. We enjoy handmade goods because they're made with great quality; handmade objects reflect the maker's skill and dedication.

There is something incredibly special about products created by hand. There's a warmth to the object that we just don't get from something that is machine-made.

People love homemade products for many reasons, but primarily they are made better. The quality of each piece will outshine your expectation.

Every time you pick up an item, be it jewelry, artwork, or clothing, you'll feel grateful for being able to appreciate the craftsmanship and owning a unique object and be in awe of how wonderful handmade items can be.
