Who Inspires You Essay

Describe a famous person who has inspired you, and you would like to meet

I would love to meet Bill Gates. Bill Gates is acknowledged as one of the most influential people in America and one of the world’s wealthiest individuals. However, apart from that, he is also a talented person. During his childhood, he became very interested in computers and used to compile computer programs. He was so good at it that he even won a competition that involved writing the shortest computer program for a computer to execute. When he took the SATs, he achieved an amazing score of 1590. Later, he went on to study at Harvard, but after only two years, he decided to quit, dropped out, and founded his own software company. In this essay, I will tell you who he is because, despite his fame, many people do not know much about him.

The impressive success of Microsoft and its many products earned him billions of dollars and helped him become one of the wealthiest people on the planet. That is how I first learned about him - when he was on the TV news one day. Microsoft has become a household name because of him, and it is not surprising that many people aspire to be like him. He is one of the most influential developers and business leaders in the computer software industry, mostly known for being the co-founder of Microsoft. That was back in 1975, and since then his career has been a series of phenomenal successes, and he has helped build one of the most successful companies in the world.

However, the good thing about him is that – he is a great philanthropist and donates much of his fortune to good causes such as famine and poverty in Africa, research into Aids, and improving education in impoverished areas through the introduction of technology in schools. He is seriously interested in making the world a better place to live for those who have not been as fortunate as him. One of his most admirable achievements, apart from Microsoft, is the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. It is an organization aimed at improving the quality of life for those living in poverty through charitable work.

The generosity of Bill Gates and his sense of not doing everything only for himself are reasons enough to respect him. He claimed that success is a lousy teacher because it seduces smart people into thinking they can not lose. However, I find him inspirational because he shows that even someone who did not finish college can become successful and make a real difference in the lives of others.
