Modal Verbs Quiz | Present and Future Forms | English Learners

Modal verbs help us understand more about the verb in the sentence. They can imply necessity, possibility, or permission.

  • Must - Use when something is necessary or very important.
  • Doesn't have to - Use when something is not necessary.
  • Can't - Use to show something is impossible or not allowed.
  • Don't have - Use to indicate absence of necessity or obligation.
  • Might - Use when there is a possibility of something happening.
  • Should - Use to give advice or recommendations.
  • Can - Use to show permission or ability.
  • Could - Use to express possibility or past ability.

Remember, when talking about the future, we don't usually change the form of the modal verb.

For example, we wouldn't say "will can" or "will must".

Instead, we use the same form for both present and future.

So, are you ready to test your knowledge on modal verbs? Let's get started!
