Another is if sports facilities were only available to specific groups of people, it would discourage others from participating in sports altogether because of a lack of facilities.

Moreover, some critics of this idea say that if governments only invest in areas for elite athletes, they will miss out on vital opportunities, like investing in transit services and public works projects. They worry about what could happen to local communities without infrastructure investment.

In my opinion, it is better for governments to make special sports facilities available only to a limited group of people, leading athletes. By doing so, governments can invest in the best athletes and ensure they have enough resources. Meanwhile, governments should make general sports facilities available to the public. Doing so would ensure that people who are not the top sportsmen or sportswomen in their country would still have access to facilities.
