The two pie charts show how working adults spent their time on various daily activities in 1964 and 2024 as a percentage.

The Biggest changes over 60 years are the huge increase in time spent working and the massive decrease in time spent sleeping. Time spent relaxing at home and ging out with family and friends also went down between 1964 and 2024.

In 1964, working adults spent 33% of their day working which increased to 42% in 2024. Time spent sleeping decreased from 32% to 25% over the same period. Time spent relaxing at home went down from 19% in 1964 to 7% in 2024. Going out with family and friends decreased from 19% to 6%.

Time spent traveling to work increased slightly from 2% to 7%. And playing sports increased by just one percentage point from 6% to 7%.

In summary, more time is now being spent on work and less on sleep and relaxation compared to 60 years ago.
