Environmental issues such as pollution and climate change affect all the people in the world
The challenges of climate change are not specific to one country; they exist globally. Although governments need to implement global solutions to address these difficulties, few viable plans exist. Why is there a limited number of answers? How can these problems be overcome or remedied?
Environmental Issues Essay
No region in the world remains unaffected by climate change and environmental issues such as pollution and overpopulation. Despite some global efforts to solve these environmental concerns, they have been unsuccessful thus far. Why? Because of the lack of international cooperation between countries to address the issue. The issue does not affect them immediately or directly and, hence, is not a pressing concern. For instance, The Kyoto Protocol only includes rich countries and expired in 2012 with no revision date in sight. Although many people worldwide agree that action is needed to counteract climate-related issues, individual governments still prioritize their agendas over what is best for humanity.
The only solution is for all the governments to work together towards a global solution. The fact that few such solutions currently exist is because each government is primarily concerned with its economy and the prosperity of its country. However, this is not sustainable in the long run if it interferes with economic development elsewhere. All governments must work together to find a solution that will benefit everyone. The problem requires a collective effort towards global solutions for climate-related issues.
Among the proposed solutions, moving towards clean energy is an important one. Countries such as China and India have been investing considerable money in this area to develop alternative sources of fuel that would reduce the dependence on fossil fuels. This solution also requires much more research into clean energy resources, which according to scientists, are currently only present in small quantities compared to fossil fuels.
The other solution proposed is that each country must focus on containing its emissions within its borders instead of affecting other countries. However, this would not be sufficient if the other countries did not do the same. Other solutions include reducing dependency on oil and using sustainable forestry practices so that forests can absorb carbon dioxide from the air and help reduce global warming. Such measures would prove beneficial for both developed and developing nations.
Overall, the response to the issue of climate change has so far been lacking. It is a global problem that requires a collaborative effort between all countries. Although this has not been forthcoming so far, some people believe that by 2050 such collaboration will have been achieved, and there will be a reduction in carbon emissions. Solutions to mitigate climate change include reducing dependency on oil and using sustainable forestry practices. Such measures would prove beneficial for everyone. Maintaining an ecological balance must also be considered to prevent environmental degradation and any negative impact caused by climate change.
