IELTS General Training Writing Task 1

Sample IELTS Letter (semi-formal)

Dear John,

I'm writing to ask if you know about a job being advertised in your company. I saw it on a website the other day. It says they are looking for a Systems Engineer, and I want to apply for the open position. I think I have the necessary qualifications and experience.

Could you find out a little more about the position for me please? What are they looking for and maybe the exact type of skills they need? Do you know anyone in that department?

I think it could be a good move for me because I've been in my present job for almost three years now, and I need a change, and to expand my experience. There would probably be more opportunities for additional training in such a company because it's an international company and much bigger than where I'm working at the moment.

Write me soon and let me know what you find out.

Best regards,

Frederick
